We now offer a convenient online booking engine. Just CLICK HERE to check availability and book your adventure in the US Virgin Islands.
Your Flight and Ferry Ride
The airport you will want to fly into is Cyril E King Airport in Charlotte Amalie, St Thomas. (Airport Code STT).
For US citizens, a US Passport is NOT required for reentry into the continental United States if you do not leave the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
The Water Island Ferry dock is located at Crown Bay Marina, a short five minute cab ride from the airport. Make sure you plan in a couple hours between your flight arrival and your planned ferry trip, to give youself time to get over to Crown Bay Marina and to pick up some supplies at the grocery store.
When completing your reservation, we will ask you for your planned ferry time, so we can arrange to be at the Ferry Dock on Water Island to meet you and drive you and your luggage up to the campground.
IMPORTANT: If your flight arrives after the last ferry or before the first ferry, private ferries or boats can be arranged with the ferry service (contact them directly at 340-690-4159). If, for some reason, a ferry cannot be arranged, we can pick your party up or deliver you back to St Thomas for a $50 fee.
Packing – What to Bring
The big question – what do I need to bring with me, and more importantly, what can I leave at home? We’ve got you covered:
You will be staying in a weatherproof, comfortable wood frame tent-cottage, fully appointed with electrical outlets, comfortable beds and linens, first aid kits, a table and chairs inside, lounge chairs and a cooler on your private, ocean-view terrace outside, towels for showering and washing up, beach towels, a bin for your groceries, and all the cooking utensils, cutlery and dish ware you need to prepare a home-cooked meal up at the Pavilion.
You won’t be needing to lug along the usual hardware associated with camping, such as tents and stakes, air mattresses and pumps, or cooking utensils and ice chests. The Pavilion is fully loaded with a refrigerator, gas grill, gas cooktop, and a big table and a sink for washing up, so you won’t need to worry about those things either.
However, the cottages are nestled within the lush folliage. The cottages are airy and you will be outside a lot, so bring some bug spray for sure. A flashlight is a must, in case you need to take a late night walk up to the bathrooms, or end up coming back from the beach or restaurant after dark. For the daytime, sunscreen is a must.
For toiletries, we supply you with showers and a bathroom area that is modern and comfortable. You should bring your own shampoo and bar soap.
We supply sheets, blankets, bath towels, as well as a beach towel for each person in the cottage. Depending on the time of the year, you might consider bringing an extra light blanket to add to your bed if you tend get chilly at night. Also a sweater or light jacket for evenings.
There is ONE ATM on Water Island located at Dinghies Beach Bar and Grill, and most vendors (Water Island Ferry, Dinghies Bar and Grill, and Heidi’s Honeymoon Grill) only accept cash. There are several ATMs a short walking distance from the ferry on the St. Thomas side, but it would be a good idea to bring some cash with you so you won’t have to worry about it.
Other than that, there are no special requirements for a comfortable and easy stay at the Eco-cottages. Can’t wait to see you!
